The Okpe Union of North America was established by a group of Okpe nationals on December 24, 2004. It was formally launched in East Elmhurst, New York State, USA, on April 30, 2005, at an inaugural meeting attended by Okpe nationals from the US states of California, Texas, New York, Indiana, Illinois, and New Jersey, and from the Canadian province of Ontario. The Union promotes and defends Okpe interest in North America and in Nigeria. It is the umbrella organization of all Okpe associations, clubs, and unions in North America.
